independent poll indicates that tens of millions oppose the government’s deeply
unpopular ID plans, and that millions will defy the scheme. The government clearly
intends to force people onto the ID database when they renew their passport
[5], but this sort of coercion will prompt even greater civil disobedience –
on
a scale not seen since the Poll Tax.”
